Understanding Effective DPI (eDPI)

What is eDPI?

eDPI stands for Effective Dots Per Inch. It is the mathematical product of your mouse's hardware DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity.

eDPI = Mouse DPI × In-Game Sensitivity

Why do we need eDPI?

If Player A uses 1.0 Sens at 800 DPI, and Player B uses 2.0 Sens at 400 DPI, their in-game sensitivities look completely different. However, their eDPI is exactly the same (800). eDPI allows us to accurately compare two players' crosshair speeds regardless of what mouse they buy.

Can I compare eDPI between different games?

No. You cannot compare a CS2 eDPI to a Valorant eDPI. This is because every game engine uses a different internal math formula (called Yaw) to translate your mouse movement into camera rotation.

An eDPI of 1000 in CS2 is a perfectly normal, medium sensitivity. An eDPI of 1000 in Valorant is insanely fast and virtually unplayable. If you want to match your sensitivity between two different games, you must use a Sensitivity Converter to calculate the Engine Yaw ratio.
